Building a Better State of Health
The primary purpose of the Division of Institutional Advancement and the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) Foundation is to secure gifts and philanthropic grants to support the statewide work of UAMS and advance its threefold mission: education, patient care, and research, to improve health of all Arkansans.
Why Philanthropy Matters at UAMS
Institutional Advancement supports fundraising efforts for all units of UAMS, including its colleges, institutes, centers of excellence, and departments. The majority of UAMS’ revenue comes from clinical income, with state funding making up only about 6 percent of the budget. The funds we raise are critical in helping support the work of UAMS’ colleges, institutes, regional campuses, and programs.

Our goal is to match donor passions with bold ideas to improve the health of every Arkansan: building strong relationships with grateful patients, alumni, corporations, foundations, and community partners to accelerate our ability to discover cures, educate the next generation of health professionals, and save and improve lives.

About the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences
The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) was founded in 1879 by eight physicians. Today UAMS is the state’s only academic health center, part of a statewide network of postsecondary education institutions of the University of Arkansas System governed by a 10-member Board of Trustees.
